July and August 2022 Newsletter

Dear Friend of CEF,
During the months of July and August we do not send our normal newsletter. We do appreciate
your prayers during our camp season. Thank you for praying for us! I have been thinking about the Good News Clubs in the fall. I am especially burdened because it seems like each year we have fewer volunteers – both at camp and club. While we pray to be able to hold clubs in schools that are closed to us, the reality is that if they did open up, we would not have the volunteers to help at these clubs. I am praying that the Lord would send the laborers into this harvest field.

Maybe you are wondering what it looks like to be a volunteer. Let me show you what it looks like in one of my Good News Clubs. Beside myself, there are 5 volunteers at this club. Although this seems like a lot of adults for 30 children, most clubs are not so blessed. Some clubs have one teacher and one helper. I am blessed to have helpers that lead the songs, listen to the children say their Bible verses, provide snacks, sit with the children for classroom control, take attendance, and teach the missionary time. This allows me to prepare for teaching the lesson and verse. You can see that being a volunteer does not mean doing it all and doesn’t necessarily mean you are the teacher, although we do need teachers to start new clubs.

Maybe you wonder if you are too old or too young to volunteer. Many of our volunteers are retired. I am so thankful for these servants of God who have not retired from their involvement with CEF! We can also use young people – homeschooled students in grades 7-12, young adults or parents of school-aged children, and middle-aged adults. The most important requirement to be a volunteer is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Maybe you know the children in your neighborhood. Could you invite those children and host a
club in your home? We are in a spiritual war for the saving of the children in Schuylkill County.
Please consider if God wants you to be part of this. We look forward to hearing from you!

From my heart,
Linda
