Jehovah Jireh MARCH 2024
I am reading a book on the names that God has been called in Scripture. And while such knowledge is interesting, it is not much use unless we can believe it and appropriate it in our lives. I cannot hear the name Jehovah Jireh without the tune to the Christian chorus coming into my head: “Jehovah Jireh, my provider…” But Jehovah Jireh means more than just that. The meaning is more that God provides because He sees. David Wilkerson, explains the meaning of Jehovah Jireh as “the Lord sees and will provide; the Lord will see to it; the Lord is showing us.”
It is encouraging to our faith when we can appeal to God, based on who He is, to act according to His character, and then see Him act. This has happened for us this past month. As was stated in the last newsletter, my parents are facing some physical issues and I want to be available to help them. Of course, I was concerned about my clubs because, as it is, we barely have enough teachers. We were praying.
Our great Jehovah Jireh saw our need, He saw to it, He showed us His provision. A woman reached out to Shelley. She and a group of college students wanted to be involved in clubs. They are all trained to teach! “Where can you use us?” she asked. Immediately we recognized God’s provision!
We are thankful for you who appeal to Jehovah Jireh for our needs! I wanted you to know that He is answering those appeals.
“…even before we call out to him, our God answers. Long before we’re born, he’s at work forming and shaping the circumstances of our lives.” “…our Lord will reveal to us everything we need to obey him. He’ll see to it that we’re provided with all the power, strength and resolve to do whatever he commands.” “[God] wants us to run to the security of [his] names, fully persuaded of their meaning and power.”
