I was recently in a local grocery store when a girl behind the counter asked a co-worker, “What is Memorial Day about?” The co-worker and I were stunned for a moment, then I replied, “I’m sorry you don’t know. That’s sad.” The girl agreed. The co-worker explained to her that Memorial Day is when we remember those who fought for our freedom.
As I was leaving the store, I began to think, “if she doesn’t know about the importance of Memorial Day, does she have any idea about the Savior who died to set us free from our sin?” We are living in a world that does not know truths you and I take for granted.
As our summer ministry begins keep our summer missionaries in prayer. They are serving on the front line of a spiritual battle for the eternal souls of our county’s children. A few of the summer missionaries battle discouragement and fear. Some struggle staying on task and organized. Amy and Christopher will be stepping up into a greater leadership role, and Bennett is new to everything.
But the one thing they are each sure of is this: God has called them to fight in the battle. To stay the course. To challenge themselves. To share the life saving message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They are fighting for freedom~ spiritual freedom from the darkness of sin and their weapon is the Word of God.
Pray for them to be bold as they witness to the children.
