Sometimes life gets out of balance. It happens. Not intentionally or with the wrong motives. Sometimes there is a need that is so urgent everything else gets put on the “back burner” until later when we have time to get to it.
Sometimes I think that’s what happened in missions. The need is so urgent in foreign countries, the burden so great~ GNC teachers walking hours to get to a club. GNC teachers having to choose between feeding their child or riding the bus to a club so the Gospel can be shared with the children who otherwise would never hear the Good News. These stories are true, painful to hear and increase our burden for the lost…over there.
The need is so urgent “over there” that the local mission field has been placed on the “back burner.”
There are many children who have never heard about Jesus in Schuylkill County. I know this sounds unbelievable in a country with so many resources at our disposal, but it is true nonetheless. And because it is so accessible, we take it for granted that the children are hearing the Gospel message. But this is not the case.
Because of my position as local director, I teach hundreds of children in a year’s time. Twenty years ago when I started with CEF, most of the children we taught had a basic knowledge of the Bible. This is no longer the case. Most know nothing about the Bible or Jesus for that matter. Christmas is about Santa Claus and receiving gifts (or hoping for gifts). Life for the children in Schuylkill County is out of balance.
Together we can take the children of Schuylkill County off the back burner~ bringing them into a place of priority, thereby bringing more balance to ministry life within our churches.
Balance is possible~ when we work together. Will you join CEF to reach the 16,470 elementary-aged children in the county with the saving message of Jesus Christ?
