May 2026 – Calling on the Name of the Lord

“How can I repay the LORD for all his goodness to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD…..I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the LORD.”                        Psalm 116:12 &17

We cannot help but offer thanks to the LORD for all that He has done. In the middle of April, Shelley, Trixie, and I spent two days with some of the first- and second-year summer missionaries from our county and three other counties to review the wordless book. We were very impressed with how our second-year missionaries had improved in their presentations. While I watched our summer missionaries eagerly participate in class and enjoy each other so much outside of class, I was reminded again of how good God has been to CEF of Schuylkill County.

The above verse tells us what we should do in light of God’s goodness to us. It should lead us to call on the name of the LORD more. Although we think of “calling on the name of the LORD” for our salvation, it seems like the whole Christian life could be wrapped up in the cycle of praising the LORD for all His goodness and calling on His name; we call, He answers, we praise and it continues. It is a form of constant worship.

Now it is time to call on Him again for what lies ahead. Summer is a busy season. Since Shelley has stepped down to part-time and family responsibilities can require her at any unpredictable moment, we are reminded of our need to call on the name of the LORD. We also call on Him for enough volunteers for the Day Camps. We call on Him for buses and drivers to transport children from Shenandoah, Minersville, and Pottsville to camp. We call on Him for people to serve on our committee. We call on Him for a local coordinator.

Would you join us in worshiping the LORD in this way? We look forward to praising Him for all He is going to do this summer.
