October 2025 – To Agonize in Prayer

“God enabled me so to agonize in prayer that I was quite wet with sweat, though in the shade, and in wind cool. My soul was drawn out very much for the world;
I grasped for multitudes of souls.”
David Brainard, Diary entry Monday, April 19, 1742
Missionary to American Indians

Prayer~ It’s often an action that we do more talking about than actually doing! The words of David Brainard are challenging. To have such a burden for the lost~ those who will spend eternity separated from God~ that I become wet with sweat!? That is a heavily burdened heart.

Our nation is seeing much turmoil and the only hope we have is Jesus Christ. “while we wait for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Titus 2:13

I have recently taught children who have never been in a church:

~Children who have never seen a Bible

~Children who have never heard the Name of God

~Children who believe Christmas is about the birth of Santa Claus

~Children who have heard of Jesus but have no idea that He died, was buried, and rose again to take the punishment for sin~ their sin.

The children need to be brought before The Throne of God’s Grace. School shootings, divorce, single parenting, poverty, neglect, abuse are just a few of the evils and struggles that come against our children. Good News Club® starts the week of October 6. Please be in prayer for the children and those who serve in the clubs.

Lilias Trotter served as a missionary in Algiers for 40 years. The following was written in her diary near the end of her life:

“It has come these days with a new light and power, that the first thing we have to see to, as we draw near to God day by day, is that ‘our fellowship is with the Father & with His Son Jesus Christ.’ If we can listen in stillness, till our souls begin to vibrate to the thing He is thinking & feeling about the matter in question, whether it concerns ourselves or others, we can from that moment begin praying downwards from His throne, instead of praying upwards toward Him

(21 March 1926)”.

 Let us commit to pray for those without Christ until we are wet with sweat and our souls begin to vibrate to the thing God is thinking and feeling.
