January 2022 Newsletter – Out With the Old, In With the New

As we turn the page of our calendar to the New Year, the phrase “Out with the old, in with the new” comes to mind. This is the time of year when we think about changes that we want to make to improve our life. I’d like to share with you what is going out and what is coming in here at CEF®. Physically speaking, the old windows are going out, and new ones are coming in. Since our last newsletter, generous donations have come in toward our new windows so that we have enough money for 3 windows! We have been so encouraged by your generosity!

Also, going out are the old ways of finding summer missionaries. In January, we will be having an informational get-together for potential summer missionaries. Being a summer missionary is hard work, and it needs to be a calling from the Lord. We are not looking for young people who just
want a summer job. We are looking for those who love the Lord and want to serve Him by sharing the Gospel with children in whatever way is needed. This meeting will allow young people to see the cost as well as the blessings of being a summer missionary.

Going out are old ideas about prayer, and coming in are plans for new intentional prayer time. We have a weekend Prayer Summit planned April 29 and 30th. We will be praying for different areas of the ministry and our country. In light of the rapid changes in our country, we need to be seeking God’s face not just as individuals, but together as the body of Christ. Details for this event will be
announced later. Please plan to join us!

There is one thing, however, that is not going out. We will never change the truth of the old, old story of salvation through faith in Jesus. Many people today want to change that message. Even some professing Christians are throwing out their belief in God’s inspired Word, the seriousness of sin, the validity of Christ’s death and resurrection, and the power of the Gospel to change lives. So, be assured, we will never be changing that message because the old, old story is what brings new life!
