Walking and Leaping!

Recently while teaching at the party club in Gordon the lesson caused me to examine my heart and to ask this question, “Do I go walking and leaping?”

In Acts Chapter 3 we read the story of Peter and John. There was a lame man from birth who was carried and laid daily at the gate to ask for alms. He must have been persistent to go every day; do we go to the gate of the Lord every day for what we need?  Peter did not have what the man was asking for but must have been moved by this man’s persistence, faith or boldness enough to speak to him. The Bible says in verse 5 “he fixed his attention on them expecting to receive something from them”.  I personally think he wasn’t expecting what was about to happen. When Peter reached out to this man the Bible tells us he immediately was healed. His feet and ankles made strong.  After this he could have went on his way to his family or friends, yet he went walking, and leaping and praising God.

Here is what I have taken from this lesson personally. Am I persistent, bold and full of faith expecting to receive what God has in store for me? Or do I have a ‘sometimes’ faith? Do I come daily to the gates of the Lord? Or just when I need something from Him? And when the Lord does something in my life, do I hold back, or do I go walking and leaping and praising God?

In 2012 it was hard for me to praise God when I was hurt at work. I faced 2 back surgeries and was unsure if I would walk again. I had a strong faith and believed God would be with me through it all.

Every time I had to endure grueling physical therapy God was with me. Every step I pushed myself to take, God was there. Every set back, every doctor appointment, year after year God was there. I even faced 2 more surgeries and through it all God was there. I praise Him that I can walk, unassisted and give God all the praise for all I went through, all He did for me, and the person it has helped me become.

In our lives we often ask God for one request, but he chooses to bless our lives in other ways. Praise Him when he meets your needs! Praise Him when you are in the midst of the storm! Praise Him when He gives you more than you asked and praise Him when He says wait or no.

Praising God,

Jimmie Lu

The following is from a note Mrs. Artz received from one of her Mailbox Club students:

“Dear Mrs. Artz, How did God even create us? Did he create the world? And what does he look like? I’ve been wondering all of those questions. Is it hard being God? How does he get to all of those children and adults? Did you make up the Mail Box Club and make it a thing? Because I think it’s cool. Sorry about all of my questions I’m just curious.

Merry Christmas! Yet it’s all about Jesus’s Birthday. I think it’s cool that Jesus was born on Christmas. It must have been horrible getting nailed to a cross it’s sad that he didn’t even sin once but he died on the cross for us. That’s sad dying a death like that  but good thing he rose from his grave and had a feast. But Jesus did that for us.”
