The Truth is His-story!
During the counseling time at Good News Club® Lindell was talking to a few girls that were in fourth or fifth grade. The girls had lots and lots of questions about the Bible story and the Bible in general. As the conversation went on Lindell mentioned to the girls about Christmas being a celebration of the birth of Jesus. One of the girls said she had never heard that before. When asked what she thought Christmas was about she said, “being with family and presents.”
We have had children tell us they want to read the Bible, but they “don’t know how to use it.” Children are listening to Bible stories~ sitting on the edge of their seats in excitement and suspense waiting to hear how the story will end. Many of the children we teach have never heard of Jericho and how God brought the walls down, of Achen and God’s anger over his deception and disobedience, Gideon and God’s promise to be with him to bring victory over the enemy…
I can’t wait to tell them how God defeated the Midianites with 300 men, clay jars, torches and trumpets! (see Judges 7:1-25)
It is exciting to teach children who are anxious to learn God’s Word for the first time and yet at the same time there is a sadness because they have never heard the stories before. Pray that we would be bold in grabbing hold of the opportunities the Lord has given to us~ to share the story of “God with us.”
“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which
means, God with us). Matthew 1:23(ESV)
