When the world around me is scary,
And I don’t know what to do,
When I don’t know what is coming,
I remember what is true.
I look to You!
These are the words to a song that we sang with the children at camp this summer. It is a children’s song, but how appropriate for us all! Is the world around you scary? It is to me! Are you concerned about what is coming? I think we all are.
In Luke 21, Jesus told His disciples about scary times that were coming. His description of wars, earthquakes, famines, diseases, persecutions, be- trayals, and hatred would put fear in the hearts of most. The question in each heart would be, What should I do?
They didn’t need to ask, because Jesus told them. “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” (Luke.21:28)
When all the world is against us because of our relationship to Jesus, we should not cower in fear or shame. Our response should be to stand tall. We have a redemption coming! I love the word pictures in Scripture.
Here is another one:
“Some boast in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. They have bowed down and fallen, but we have risen and stood upright.” (Psalm 20:7-8)
Can you picture it? Rising. Standing upright.
In our culture today, those who promote wickedness put on a facade of standing tall or being confident in promoting their devilish ideas. But according to God’s Word, they will bow down and fall. As children of a heavenly redemption, we are the ones who should be standing tall, confidently proclaiming what we know to be true. The future for Christian organizations like CEF® does not look bright. But we aim to stand tall in our declaration of the Gospel to the children in whatever means possible. One of those means is by having Christmas Party Clubs in areas where there are unchurched children. This could be in your home with the children in your neighborhood. We all need each other as we seek to “stand tall”. Please pray for us that we will stay true to the Gospel. We also are praying for you!
