Opportunities Abound!

God is good! He answered our prayers to reach many children with the Gospel. At the beginning of summer we did not know what to expect and we were filled with many questions…

Would parents sign up their children to attend camp? Would we have enough volunteers? What will we do if it rains during the week of open-air street ministry? What method of evangelism should we use during the open air ministry? Will the children come?

We held VBS at the CEF office and many times prayed, “Oh, Lord! Please bring the children from Primrose to VBS!”

We held a camp in Ashland for the first time. “Oh, God! Please fill the place with children from Ashland and the surrounding area.” ~ our heart’s cry.

And God said, “Yes.”

As you can see from the summer statistics the children did come to camp.

During the week of open—air street ministry many children heard the Gospel. People came out onto their porches to watch and listen to what was happening on their street. Bobby and Jerusha played games with the children. Pastor Matt Kenitzer provided a soccer ball and portable soccer net. Volunteers from First United Methodist Church, Pottsville made all the initial contacts to set up the program with the City of Pottsville. They provided help, encouragement, refreshments, lunch for the staff and volunteers, and a place to rest and be restored until it was time to start all over again. And did I mention that it was almost one hundred degrees that week? During this week two 5-Day Clubs were held on Zoom. God is good.

He brought the children. Now it is time for the fall ministry to begin. The schools are opening for CEF to hold in-school after-school Good News Clubs. We are in need of volunteers to
staff the clubs. The response to the VBS held in the office was very positive, so Linda and I plan to hold an ongoing Good News Club here. We would also like to keep connected to the children from the Ashland camp so we are looking for a location to hold a club in that area. Volunteers are needed.

We have an idea to continue discipling the children we saw this summer on Race Street. We are in need of a bus driver. Our idea? To hold Good News Club on the bus. Yes, you read that correctly~ Good News Club on the bus. Pray for someone to be willing to serve the Lord in the capacity of bus driver.
Opportunities abound.
