Was there ever a day when you just didn’t feel all that good about yourself? Perhaps you didn’t sleep well. Maybe someone said or did something that brought you down. Perhaps you just didn’t care for the way you looked that day. Perhaps you struggle daily with self-esteem.
When you don’t feel good about yourself you can struggle the entire day. You can have trouble focusing and making decisions. Personally, I’ll spend that day second guessing all of my decisions. It’s days such as this where I need to remind myself who I am in Christ Jesus.
In “A Marvelous Display,” Dr. Stanley writes, “God not only created each of us physically, but for those of us who have been saved through Jesus’ death and resurrection, He’s also made us new creatures in Christ. Furthermore, Ephesians 2:10 says, ‘We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus.’ To me, the word workmanship means ‘masterpiece’ or ‘something of notable value and excellence.’”
God doesn’t want us to feel bad about ourselves, struggle or second guess our decisions. I think of the potter and the clay. When the potter is working that clay, he doesn’t want any imperfections or cracks. We are a constant work, God’s masterpiece, and His most special creation.
When we feel good about ourselves and who we are in Christ Jesus it flows over into all areas of our lives. When we feel confident in who we are, others can see and feel it. When we feel good about ourselves, we are happier and more content. We can make clear decisions and there is no second guessing.
Just as you look in the mirror before you leave home for the day, remind yourself that you are created in His image and are someone of notable value and excellence.
May 2021 bring you many blessings.
