Committee Changes
December and January brought about major changes in the local committee. Luke and Havilah Walker joined the committee in January 2019. They were both very familiar with CEF®: Havilah was a summer missionary for several years in Schuylkill County and Luke served as a summer missionary in New
York State. They brought wisdom and new insights to the committee.
During their time of service they became parents to Peter, hired summer missionaries, supported us through the changes brought on by the pandemic and helped to move the office from Hegins to Minersville. Due to their growing family and Luke’s work schedule they decided to resign their positions with CEF®. As you know, you can’t get rid of us that easily~ Havilah spent the day in the office filming devotional videos for use in Good News Club® that will be available in February on our YouTube Channel, Casey & Company.
Wendell Heisler joined the committee in November 2003. After 18 years of service, many of which he
served as co-chairman, Wendell has resigned his position. I will miss him. He was thoughtful about any
decisions he made. Wendell saw the best in every situation. I would know when he was thinking about a
topic, not ready to share his thoughts but not finished giving the topic more thought~ he would take off his glasses and hold them near his mouth, tapping and waiting, and at just the right moment he would say his peace.
Wendell once stood for two hours waiting for the game commission to come and remove a timber rattlesnake from the camp area. During Wendell’s 18 years of service, he saw many changes~ which included moving the office twice! And both times he loaded his dump truck with
office equipment~ Oh! My! I will miss his gentle presence on the committee. He told me that at 81
he needed to retire from a few things.
May God bless Wendell in his retirement and Luke and Havilah as they begin raising their family.
Please keep the committee in prayer as they seek to fill the position of co-chair and the two member positions that are now open.
