In June 2011 the CEF office moved from Schuylkill Haven to Deep Creek Road, Hegins. For the past ten years, members of the Valley View Church of God have cared for the property and the girls in the office.
About a year ago, Primrose Bible Church voted to seek dissolution. This was a sad and difficult decision for the church members to make. In making that tough choice, the congregation voted to give the church building and property to CEF® of Schuylkill County. Over the past months the CEF committee has been researching what would be required for us to take ownership of the property, which is located at 91 High Road, Pottsville PA 17901. (The location is a few miles west of Minersville off route 901).
In December, Cathy Nagle, Pastor Ed Eifert (representing Primrose) and I attended a Zoning Hearing Board meeting to seek the necessary zoning approval to move the office. The thirty day waiting period for an appeal was up January 21. There is more paper-work to be completed and we will have work to do in the new building before we can officially move the office.
Please pray for the staff and committee as they make decisions in regards to the move.
Pray for the McCarthy family and the changes the closing of the church mean for them.
We have truly been blessed to have the office in the Tri-Valley area. We have built new relationships and strengthened existing ones. Over the past 10 years we held many Good News training classes, trained summer missionaries, prepared Good News Club materials, held a Teaching Children Effectively™ Level 2 course, made countless camp crafts, stuffed thousands of newsletters, enjoyed picnics to celebrate what God has done through the summer missionaries, we’ve prayed, laughed, and cried together, we’ve had snakes, mice, bugs, a bird get caught in the building and die in a box only to be found months later, bugs, snakes, (oh, I mentioned those already, didn’t I?), we’ve seen a rabid skunk, deer, a daring squirrel who likes to sit on the porch to look at himself in the window of the door, we’ve enjoyed a woodpecker who liked to pound his beak into the metal roofing, the incredibly beautiful view…We have enjoyed everything about being here these past years
……..well almost everything~ there were the snakes and the mice~ did I mention that the snakes were in the office and that the mice were in our tea cups?
Enjoying the journey,
Shelley
