“I want to, but I don’t know how to use it!”
Those were the words a little girl in Good News Club® said to me as I encouraged the children to read their Bibles. Well, something had to be done about that! So, we used the two clubs that I teach as test clubs to see how the children would respond.
We purchased the Book of John Pocket New Testaments and taught the children verses from John 14. The children were all given their own Book of John to keep in their book bags so that they would have it each week at the club. It was great! I was able to tell the children to open their Book of John to page 32 and have the children all read the Word of God together! Each week I would add to the teaching on the Bible and how to find their way around the Book.
Because we had such a positive response (at least half to three-quarters of the group in each club had their Bibles every week) we sought a way to make this opportunity available to all the clubs.
A couple who has supported CEF for many years donated 200 New Testaments for us to give to the children in our clubs. Now the children will have the opportunity to learn even more of the Bible and learn how to use it! All the verses the children will be encouraged to memorize this club year will come from the New Testament.
The response from the club volunteers was extremely positive and excitement was in the air when they were told of this opportunity at the training classes.
I look forward to reporting back to you how God has used this great gift for His glory.

CEF World Day of Prayer
“What matters is the power of God working in the midst of our ministry. The power of God comes through prayer–it’s the work of the ministry. When it’s all said and done, it’s prayer that made the difference.” ~Reese Kauffman (President of CEF)
